Gamers rage over rumors of Sony patent!
I was just checking my e-mail when an alert from IGN popped up, a rumor has surfaced that Sony has a patent on technology that will block second hand games. On December 9th Sony filed for a patent for new tech that will link game disks to a users account. Their will be contactless tag, the system will read when the disk is first played. In order to play the game, the code that the game has saved and the one stored in the system will have to match or the game wont play. So what does this mean? Well for companies like Gamestop where a large portion of their profits came from used games, they will in effect be going out of business. As for companies that rent games, they're going to have a horrible time doing any business as well. If they can do any at all. But what about the everyday gamer?
