Gaming, Laziness, and why you're Bored!

I was just reading about the new profession stuff  for the the next WoW expansion and got excited. New things to farm, new items to craft and all that on top of a brand new world to explore. Then I read some of the posts after and people were complaining about having to farm new mats, and that brings me to this post and the state of gaming today. Laziness, their is no other way to put. People used to take pride in the fact that they were playing the game. They would actually do the quests, and not for some little achievement but for the gear, the money or the story the quest provided. We used to farm materials and while it got frustrating at times we all knew we were going to get something pretty cool from it, a sword or a gem that gave us better stats or just looked neat. But now it seems like less and less people want to do any of that. They want everything handed to them, or they want to sit around a town while they wait for the in game group finder, finds them a group to run ...

The Great Week of Patches

So the great week of patches has come and gone with both ups and downs. The first WoW came out with the long awaited 4.3 patch. The patch included transmogrification, void storage, a raid finder, 3 new 5-man dungeons, new raid content including the defeat of Deathwing, and last but not least The Darkmoon Faire. The new 5-mans I thought were a blast and I've enjoyed them a lot more than the Zul dungeons. I haven't had a chance to use the raid finder or run the new raids because of my lack of gear but should be able to by the end of the week, not that I'm very good at the entire world of raiding but oh well, right. As for the Darkmoon Faire I've had a lot of fun running around playing all the little mini games. It's also a great place to level everything every profession you can think of. There have been some problems however. I made a warlock for giggles and can't delete him, it tells me that he has a heirloom or important item on him even though his mailbox, i...

You'll have the time WoW is going to be down for awhile with the patch coming out.

WoW, anybody else miss the old days?

I started to play WoW just before Burning Crusade was release, just to give a point of reference. I recently decided to start another alt, I get the craving every couple of months. This time I made an Orc warlock. I've only ever had a little experience with locks back in the day.  I quickly wound up at level 10 even with no boa's, I bought my skills and went back to questing but had this feeling that something was missing. Eventually it all came to me.  Everything so far was just given to me. Flashback a couple expansions. In order to pick up the next summon, their was a quest. Yup a person had a story, his story included me completing a task for him and what would he do? Grant me the knowledge for this summon.  The whole experience made me feel more apart of the world around me and most of all, I had fun. Everything is now handed to us now. Where their used to be quests for  new spells and gear now it's just handed to us. Where we used to have to go find quests ...

WoW new commercial, can you say Chuck Norris?

That's right the new WoW commercial is here for our enjoyment. When they got Mr. T to come out with his commercial the people cheered, so who could be next? Who could top Mr. T, oh that's right you know you were thinking it, CHUCK NORRIS! If you want to check out the commercial here's a link to the youtube page with it. Wow commercial link   So now that we've had a commercial with Chuck Norris, who do you want to see next? As always I look forward to your comments, that is if somebody left one I'm sure I would like it.

Things to do while waiting for WoW 4.3

So everybody is on the edge of their seat waiting for patch 4.3 to finally get released but it's still not here. I was really thought it would be here by now but hey I can't be right all the time. So by now you've run those pesky raids and TB is just a memory, what's left to do? Here's a list of things I've been up to. Finishing those extra professions. Fishing, first aid, archeology, cooking are all things that I was always planning on doing at some point and just never got around to it. Mount and Pet collecting. Their are tons of pet and mounts to collect all over the world.  Most of them take mind numbing amount of time and will having you beating your head against the keyboard to get but it's all worth it when that stranger comes up to you says " you must be crazy to go fishing for that long for a turtle." Gathering old raid gear. Since we are getting that transmogrification, now's the time to pick up all that super slick gear from days...

Steam Hacked, time to change your password

On November 6th the Steam service relised that the hacking the happened didn't just effect their forums but may have gotten into the actual steam client. Steam released this post: Message from Gabe to Steam Community Announcement - Valve Yesterday, on November 10, 2011, the following message was sent to all users via a Steam message. Dear Steam Users and Steam Forum Users: Our Steam forums were defaced on the evening of Sunday, November 6. We began investigating and found that the intrusion goes beyond the Steam forums. We learned that intruders obtained access to a Steam database in addition to the forums. This database contained information including user names, hashed and salted passwords, game purchases, email addresses, billing addresses and encrypted credit card information. We do not have evidence that encrypted credit card numbers or personally identifying information were taken by the intruders, or that the protection on credit card numbers or passwords was...

2 million people leave WoW

A lot of people have recently been commenting about how WoW has been looking a little empty lately, and for a good reason too. Close to 2 million people have left the game. Is this a sign of the death of WoW?  After all those people left before the major content patch of 4.3 and after Blizzcons announcement of the next expansion pack Mists of Pandaria. Do people really hate pandas that much?   I personally don't think so. I really don't think all the people that have left will stay gone. I've always found it amazing how many people "quit" and a month later they are waiting for a FL run. Another reason people could be leaving is because they are tired of paying a monthly fee. WoW now has a lot of competition, not by content standards,WoW still rules the roost, but by the simple fact that their are so many free to play games now.  DC Universe , Lord of the Rings are two big examples that recently have gone free, and companies like Nexon , Perfect World , and GPo...

DC Universe Online 1000% growth

DC Universe online went free on the November 1st...kinda. The game didn't really run that day at all, but on the second day, well it didn't really run that day much either. The same with the third  or the fourth. OK so the game has been less than stable since it's free release, but we now know why. In a recent press release DC told us that the population has grown over 1000%! Holy jelly donuts Batman, I'm no longer annoyed with the long wait times to long in, the over crowded areas and the simple fact that a lot of the time you can't even long in. After all who would have expected that much growth in such a short time. They are actively patching and the game has become more stable and the servers are up more than they were, so with any luck they'll have their problems worked out soon. It also shows something else. The game is good! Super customizable characters, fun dungeons, not to mention the fact that you get to not only meet but fight along your favorite...
