New Final Fantasy XIV addiction

Image
I've recently started playing Final Fantasy XIV. I've played almost every FF game made and figured it was only a matter of time before I started this one too. Anyway I've been having a blast, started off as a lancer because Dragoons have always been a favorite class in the past, but then I saw they had Ninjas, and let's be honest, nothing beats a Ninja. So yeah, yeah here's a screen shot of my new addiction.

Wildstar goes F2P

Another MMO is going free to play. That's right recently the makers of WildStar have announced it's going free to play. I don't know if it's just going completely free and just charging people for the extras in-game or if you'll still have to buy the game but they are getting rid of the monthly fee. Really you didn't need to pay a monthly fee, I know I didn't for the short time I played the game. All you had to do was buy (with in-game money) the special tokens that would let you in-turn buy game time. That's right, it's the system that WoW picked up, which kinda makes me wonder if WoW is going to be going free sometime in the future. hmmmmm. Anyway Wildstar is supposed to be going free this fall.  So if you haven't played or like me got tired of playing, this fall might be a good time to hop back into the game.

MMO's and Raid Finder Woes

The great debate rages on, to give us a LFR in MMO's. "I just want a chance to do the raids, I don't have friends that do them so give me something that finds me a group for a raid," one group asks. " Just go make some friends and do the raid, stop being anti-social. If they make a raid finder, they'll have to nerf all the content," the other group says. World of Warcraft ended up adding an LFR, some people say that it ruined the game and others love it. Recently Destiny was released and while some of the content will find you a group, but not the raids, which has set the boards ablaze. I look at WoW. Some people say that the LFR option has ruined the entire raiding experience, but really has it?  Has that taken away from the other raiding? NO! Yes the LFR is easy, but you can always get together with your friends, or guildies and run it on a normal difficultly, which is harder to complete, and you'll get different rewards for completing it. Is tha...

Warlords of Draenor Release Date....Soon

Today Blizzard announced when the latest expansion for World of Warcraft, Warlords of Draenor, will be released... Well kinda. The official WoW blog said that the opening cinematic and the official release date will premiere at an event on August 14th in L.A.  The event is supposed to be held in Ace Theater and should also include a live interview with WoW developers.

WildStar Combat Tips

I've been playing Wild Star for just a little while now but I've come across somethings that may be perfectly obvious to some players and not even thought of by others when it comes to combat. So here's a quick list. Keep those feet moving. Just because you can't see that red area of effect marking on the ground doesn't mean no damage is coming your way. The combat really is designed around moving around as much as possible. Use your "r" skills. I don't know what they are really called but they're activated by pressing the "r" key on the keyboard so there you go. Anyway when I first started playing I thought they were one of those panic skills with an epic cool down time, not so much. Most of them recharge surprisingly fast and all of them boost your damage and healing a ton. All characters come with some sort of interrupt skill, and all players should have one in their action bars. During boss fights in dungeons some will have multip...

My first dungeon.

Image
I've finally gotten to level 20 in WildStar  with my Spell Slinger and decided to run my first dungeon. The only dungeons I've ever really run are the WoW dungeons, I've gone threw a couple of the Guild Wars 2 dungeons but only once seeing as how I can never actually find a party to run them. Anyway none of my past dungeon experiences had me ready for this one. I should have known Stone Talon was going to be way different from the start. The trash at the beginning wasn't hard but more was more difficult compared to what you would call trash mobs in WoW. The first boss was a slight lesson in frustration. I spent more time dead than alive even with my jumping and dodging around,  sometimes I couldn't even tell what was hurting me. I had that problem for most of the dungeon. Nothing seemed to be targeting me and I wasn't standing in any of the red, don't stand here cause something big is coming places, but I was still getting smacked around. The Second boss ...

more mmo free goodness!

That's right another mmo has dropped the fee and decided to free, or at least basically free. Tera Online has decided to drop it's subscription fees this February. All the game content will be free and the Tera will make money by charging people to customize their toons with costumes. Also an elite status will be available to buy which will allow 30 days of extra dungeon rewards, bonus daily quests along with an elite mount and in-game store discounts. If you already are playing Tera you'll be considered a founder. That gives players 8 character slots, 4 bank slots, a special mount and the title "Founder" For those of us just jumping into the world of Tera we will be greeted with new battlegrounds and dungeons. If you're looking for the official Tera website just click right  here . I don't know what everybody else is thinking but with all the mmo's going free to play I'm going to have a whole lot less free time on my hands. It also makes me...

star trek online F2P goes lives...

So Star Trek Online F2P (free to play) has finally gone live. I've always been a big Star Trek fan but I wasn't going to play this one. I downloaded it and thought and now all I can think is, oh look free to play...isn't even going to save this. First the good part. The character creation is great. It has a ton of different race choices and probably one of the most in depth actually creations methods I've ever seen in an mmo anywhere. While you can play a great deal of races some are still missing. Now  for everything else. I found the combat boring. At first I was using the original combat format keep pressing a number to fire the phaser, kill the Borg isn't that nice... well boring. I switched to the new combat system that was meant to be more of a 3rd person action shooter. Still I found myself clicking and waiting for the phaser to fire over and over again killed the Borg and moved onto the next sitting target. I never actually got hit and everything was dea...

WoW Priest alt, you help make the choices

Last night with the super amazing find a raid tool I defeated Deathwing, after the cheers and dancing around and the grim realization that this is the only way I'm ever going to be able to beat him him, I've decided to start yet another alt.  This time a human Priest, I thought the spirit bonus would help out. I wont be using any Boa's, since I've decided to boycott them. So after a little bit of play I've come to the first set of great decisions.  Professions and Talent tree. the choices are for you that don't know: Shadow: Strictly Dps  Holy: Healing, lots and lots of healing. Discipline: Usually what people call Disc. This class can heal and dps, but while Holy is all about healing damage that has been done, Disc is more about preventing the damage from ever being done.  So what do you think would be a good set of choices?

The Great Week of Patches

So the great week of patches has come and gone with both ups and downs. The first WoW came out with the long awaited 4.3 patch. The patch included transmogrification, void storage, a raid finder, 3 new 5-man dungeons, new raid content including the defeat of Deathwing, and last but not least The Darkmoon Faire. The new 5-mans I thought were a blast and I've enjoyed them a lot more than the Zul dungeons. I haven't had a chance to use the raid finder or run the new raids because of my lack of gear but should be able to by the end of the week, not that I'm very good at the entire world of raiding but oh well, right. As for the Darkmoon Faire I've had a lot of fun running around playing all the little mini games. It's also a great place to level everything every profession you can think of. There have been some problems however. I made a warlock for giggles and can't delete him, it tells me that he has a heirloom or important item on him even though his mailbox, i...

4.3 confirmed for tuesday!

That's right the time we've all been waiting for the mystical, magical, 4.3 patch will be launching tomorrow, I dance a jig of glee. On a completely separate note I've made a store online showing off some of my art work and the best way to tell the world is threw my blog! Here's a Link take your time and check it out. You'll have the time WoW is going to be down for awhile with the patch coming out.

WoW, anybody else miss the old days?

I started to play WoW just before Burning Crusade was release, just to give a point of reference. I recently decided to start another alt, I get the craving every couple of months. This time I made an Orc warlock. I've only ever had a little experience with locks back in the day.  I quickly wound up at level 10 even with no boa's, I bought my skills and went back to questing but had this feeling that something was missing. Eventually it all came to me.  Everything so far was just given to me. Flashback a couple expansions. In order to pick up the next summon, their was a quest. Yup a person had a story, his story included me completing a task for him and what would he do? Grant me the knowledge for this summon.  The whole experience made me feel more apart of the world around me and most of all, I had fun. Everything is now handed to us now. Where their used to be quests for  new spells and gear now it's just handed to us. Where we used to have to go find quests ...

WoW new commercial, can you say Chuck Norris?

That's right the new WoW commercial is here for our enjoyment. When they got Mr. T to come out with his commercial the people cheered, so who could be next? Who could top Mr. T, oh that's right you know you were thinking it, CHUCK NORRIS! If you want to check out the commercial here's a link to the youtube page with it. Wow commercial link   So now that we've had a commercial with Chuck Norris, who do you want to see next? As always I look forward to your comments, that is if somebody left one I'm sure I would like it.

Things to do while waiting for WoW 4.3

So everybody is on the edge of their seat waiting for patch 4.3 to finally get released but it's still not here. I was really thought it would be here by now but hey I can't be right all the time. So by now you've run those pesky raids and TB is just a memory, what's left to do? Here's a list of things I've been up to. Finishing those extra professions. Fishing, first aid, archeology, cooking are all things that I was always planning on doing at some point and just never got around to it. Mount and Pet collecting. Their are tons of pet and mounts to collect all over the world.  Most of them take mind numbing amount of time and will having you beating your head against the keyboard to get but it's all worth it when that stranger comes up to you says " you must be crazy to go fishing for that long for a turtle." Gathering old raid gear. Since we are getting that transmogrification, now's the time to pick up all that super slick gear from days...

Steam Hacked, time to change your password

On November 6th the Steam service relised that the hacking the happened didn't just effect their forums but may have gotten into the actual steam client. Steam released this post: Message from Gabe to Steam Community Announcement - Valve Yesterday, on November 10, 2011, the following message was sent to all users via a Steam message. Dear Steam Users and Steam Forum Users: Our Steam forums were defaced on the evening of Sunday, November 6. We began investigating and found that the intrusion goes beyond the Steam forums. We learned that intruders obtained access to a Steam database in addition to the forums. This database contained information including user names, hashed and salted passwords, game purchases, email addresses, billing addresses and encrypted credit card information. We do not have evidence that encrypted credit card numbers or personally identifying information were taken by the intruders, or that the protection on credit card numbers or passwords was...

2 million people leave WoW

A lot of people have recently been commenting about how WoW has been looking a little empty lately, and for a good reason too. Close to 2 million people have left the game. Is this a sign of the death of WoW?  After all those people left before the major content patch of 4.3 and after Blizzcons announcement of the next expansion pack Mists of Pandaria. Do people really hate pandas that much?   I personally don't think so. I really don't think all the people that have left will stay gone. I've always found it amazing how many people "quit" and a month later they are waiting for a FL run. Another reason people could be leaving is because they are tired of paying a monthly fee. WoW now has a lot of competition, not by content standards,WoW still rules the roost, but by the simple fact that their are so many free to play games now.  DC Universe , Lord of the Rings are two big examples that recently have gone free, and companies like Nexon , Perfect World , and GPo...
